One day, Keith Urban will sing at my wedding, but for now, I’ll watch him live in Nashville from my computer.

My Open Letter to Google Adsense

Thursday, August 27th, 2009

Hello there,

I have been using Google Adsense since December 2008 and think it’s pretty laughable that you have radio spots advertising to soccer moms about how easy Google Adsense is to use and receive payments.

Frankly, I don’t feel this way. I have never received a payment from Google Adsense and don’t know why I still use it on my blog. I have seen that Microsoft PubCenter can actually be more lucrative.

As of this writing, I have $336.14 in my Adsense account, and while this may be chump change to you at Google, money is money.

I have no holds on my account, and have received and entered my pin number online correctly. I have also enrolled in electronic payments.

Maybe after this note, you might want to look into this issue of publishers not receiving payments as I am not the only one experiencing this difficulty.

Have you checked out the Google Help Forum lately?

Thanks,
Siv

Just Created Two Twibbons

Monday, August 10th, 2009

In reading about all the petitions against IE6 (IE6 Must Die), I came across a great little site called Twibbon. This site allows you to create little images that will be placed over your picture on Twitter.

People make different images to support many different causes, but I made two to celebrate Lilly Pulitzer’s 50th Anniversary.

Check out my Twitter page to see the first one layered over my picture.

Flip Out for Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream

Flip Out for Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream

Ben & Jerry’s just introduced a new line of Flipped Out sundaes. They’ve been advertising in magazines and newspapers with ads that are upside down. When I first saw them, I thought, “Someone’s getting fired here!

I finally realized it was intentional and thought, “Well, that’s a great way to get someone’s attention.” If the ad hadn’t been upside down, I would have turned right passed it.

To get the word out through social media, Ben & Jerry’s created FlipMyText, a Facebook app that allows you to make any text read backwards and upside down.

It’s so fun!  Definitely try it out!

Head Over Heels for Jimmy Choo

Head Over Heels with Jimmy Choo

I am secretly wishing that I was Angela Lindvall right now. Not only is she a beautiful model, but she is also the face of the Jimmy Choo Fall 2009 ad campaign. Look at the beautiful shoes she gets to wear!

This reminds me of the Jimmy Choo/H&M Collaboration hitting stores this fall. I can’t wait!

Attempting to Learn French Again

Thursday, August 6th, 2009

Attempting to Learn French Again

I remember loving my French classes back in high school. It felt so good to be relatively proficient in the language. I even played the Little Prince in my senior high school French class’ video adaption of Le Petite Prince. (Hey, it was a class of all girls.)

I loved French so much that I even considered it as a minor in college. When that fell apart, I was saddened that I had no real outlet for continuing my French education. Today, I made one small step toward becoming friends with French again; I changed my Facebook language setting to French. At at the very least, I will start seeing words in French on a little more regular basis.

Baby steps.

And using Google Translate, I even translated this post to read in French. (Mrs. Kellet would not approve of this!)

Ordered My Google Voice Business Cards Today!

Wednesday, August 5th, 2009

Ordered My Google Voice Business Cards Today! My boyfriend was lucky enough to join Google Voice back when it was Grand Central. For years, I was so envious. When Google took over, I quickly signed up with the hopes that they would email me one day with an invitation. I received my invite last month and immediately scooped up a new phone number.

Why wouldn’t I want all of my phone calls recorded and transcribed? It makes life so much easier.  Last month, Google gave out business cards to Google Voice members: 25 cards to show off your new number! I ordered mine tonight and they are on their way. I will post photos once received!
