Facebook Color Status Updates

January 8th, 2010

Last night, I said to the bf, “Check out my latest Facebook status update. It’ll give you a clue to the current meme going around on Facebook.”

Sure enough after reading, “Colorless (as in not wearing one),” the bf figured out that I was referencing my (lack thereof) bra color.

Yesterday, women were simply posting updates with their current bra color. I read it all from leopard, to white with polka dots to nude. The rumor is that this was done to raise awareness around Breast Cancer.

I noticed a lot of baffled men and when they finally caught on, they reported some interesting colors, too. A good friend in Alaska wrote, “salmon.”

Did you leave a bra color status update on Facebook? If so, please share!

Earlier this year, Lilly Pulitzer introduced the Originals Collection, a collection that was made for everyone to Re-Lilly. The fabulous collection is made to be worn with love and passed onto future generations. How fun!

To celebrate, a video contest was launched with the following prompt:

Film a brief video clip (less than 2 minutes). Nothing professional…we’re all aspiring cinematographers, just pull out the FlipCam, webcam or any ole digital number and tell your story. Tell us about something that was given to you OR something special that you want to pass along and to whom… the unborn are accepted as an answer!

Today is the last day for entries. I finally made my video last night!

Talk about procrastination. Please enjoy the video on YouTube by clicking the image above.

Happy Holidays from Google!

Happy Holidays from Google!

Today, Google announced the launch of free holiday wifi in 47 airports across the US. This is so exciting! It’s the perfect gift for the upcoming travel season.

I can’t wait to break out my new MacBookPro and surf to my heart’s content while waiting for my flight to board. Now, I just have to continue the free wifi experience by flying only on Virgin America flights.

Find out more at www.FreeHolidayWifi.com. There’s even going to be a photo contest for the promotion!

You can also learn more on the Google blog and in the official Google group!

Are you excited about this holiday gift from Google?

Michelle Obama Takes My Breath Away

The November issue of Glamour Magazine rings in the holiday season with Michelle Obama on the cover. She is a stunning First Lady in Red and the first ever to appear on the cover. This cover takes my breath away! I am so happy that this is the only magazine I still have a subscription for. I can’t wait to find it in my mailbox.

Something about this cover ignites all the warm fuzzy feelings I have associated with the holidays. I just imagine the snowflakes on the cover delicately hitting my face as I frolic the streets of New York City toward the Christmas tree at Rockefellar Center. I think of all the fun parties I’ll attend dressed in my holiday best—the cute dresses, statement necklaces and shoes.

What great imagery! Not only is Michelle Obama a style icon, she also gives great advice to young women. I love the following quote from the interview with the First Lady.

“I have always tried to put my kids first, and then…put myself a really close second, as opposed to fifth or seventh. One thing that I’ve learned from male role models is that they don’t hesitate to invest in themselves.

Her statement is so relevant to many young women I know. We are always putting our male counterparts first, taking an approach where we feel that taking care of him results in taking care of ourselves. Why oh why? I’m taking a cue from Michelle Obama and putting myself first!

(By the way, her dress is Jason Wu. Read the full article at Glamour.)

I Won a Lilly Pulitzer Dress!

October 6th, 2009

On my other blog, FASHIONAHOLICS, I wrote about the Lilly Pulitzer Juice contest earlier this summer. Click to see the post, “Win a Lilly Pulitzer Dress of Your Choice!

When I finally found the juice carton at the local grocery store, I jumped up and down in front of all the other shoppers. Then I took pictures all summer long and submitted them.

I checked my email this morning to find the following message from a college friend.

Did you win a Lilly Pulitzer juice contest? I saw a Siv Lam come up on my news feed as a winner.

What was she talking about? Last week, in the Lilly Pulitzer Facebook page, we were told that all winners had been notified. I  wasn’t contacted so I have been waiting eagerly to find out the results. Following the criteria of the contest, I was hoping to win for most creative. I didn’t take the first photo nor did I take the most photos.

But they created another category and I won for “Most Well Travelled Juice.” This was such a pleasant surprise.

I finally got an opportunity to browse the dresses on the website and I think I am going for the Sandpiper Peacock Dress. It is pictured below. What do you think of this choice?
